In my community college class "Evidence 101" (if I had one), I would give failing marks to Douglas Murray and Walid Phares
Douglas Murray approvingly retweets Walid Phares, who provides a chaotically dusty 3rd World video segment lasting one minute & 22 seconds and headlines it with an interpretation based on claims he has yet to actually verify—expecting the mere video events themselves to emotionally lead the viewer to agree with him without actual verification
First of all, it’s not “unbelievable”—it’s a typical Tuesday in the Muslim regions of Africa (and probably a lot of the non-Muslim regions as well). Secondly, how do we know these are jihadists, and that shortly before the video they had massacred Black Africans in the Jenaina area? And what else about the context might explain this ostensibly barbaric treatment? If those being whipped into submission were Hamas operatives, would Douglas and Walid be so morally aggrieved? How do we know the the whipped ones weren’t picked up as enemy combatants or enablers of same? Of these questions and more, Douglas and Walid seem blithely unconcerned, as they continue fomenting the very same thought crime they accuse others of from the opposite end: insinuating demonization & condemnation of an entire People & Culture.
